Trust management

The Foundation is available as an existing and registered Charitable Trust with a highly regarded Board of trustees (all volunteers), to act as the trustee of any charitable trust.

The Foundation Trust Deed requires the Board of Advance Ashburton to comprise of:
  1. One appointment by the Ashburton District Council
  2. One member of the local accounting profession
  3. One member of the local legal profession
  4. Up to seven business and community leaders

This provides a very robust governance model. The names and background of the trustees, and committee members, are listed here

The availability of a ready-made and complying charitable trust enables your clients to avoid the complexities associated with creating their own trust documents, selecting suitable long-term trustees, making investment and grant decisions, and complying with the requirements of applicable tax and charity laws.

In such cases, the appointment of family members as advisory trustees can involve the Donors to the extent they wish.

To replace retiring trustees
The Foundation may also be a suitable successor for existing charitable trusts and organisations. Particularly for trustee succession or when high administration and compliance costs are creating an issue.
