Mary Ross - Chair
Mary Ross - Chair R.N, M.Hlth Sc (Otago). Partner in the family farm, Westerfield. Previous professional roles include Director of Nursing and Clinical Services within the Ashburton & Rural Health Services, Canterbury DHB. Prior governance responsibilities include Chairman of the Board of Governors, Christ College, Christchurch, Trustee Maia Health Foundation, and member of the National Advisory Board for the NZ Rural Leadership Trust. Current governance roles include Trustee, Mackenzie Charitable Foundation, Chair, Rural Health Academic Centre, Ashburton and Chair, Eastfield Health Ltd. Member of the Institute of Directors. Senior Partner, Mid & South Canterbury, BNZ Partners BNZ banker since 1988 and in Ashburton since 1994. Previously an Agri banker, now leading BNZ Agri team across Canterbury and the West Coast. Past Chairman Ashburton Borough School Board & past Chairman Christchurch Girls High School Rowing. Married to Jacqui and father of four daughters. Managing Director of Scammell Painting & Decorating Ltd and Elite Scaffolding 2014 Ltd. Mark is on the National Advisory Group for the BCITO, representing Master Painters NZ and Chairperson of the Staveley Campsite Committee for 9 years. Residing in Ashburton, Mark is married to Andrea and together with their 4 boys enjoys boating, fishing & camping. Ross Gibson - Chair of the Investment Committee
Director Gabites Limited, Chartered Accountants, Ashburton. Ross has been a chartered accountant since 1991 and worked in the United Kingdom for a number of years before returning to Ashburton to join Gabites Limited. He has been involved on a number of sporting committees. He is married to Deborah and has three daughters and one son. His interests include supporting our families sports teams, boating, cycling, hunting and travel. Nicki Webster
Nicki farms with her husband Peter and family in Doriw and Kirwee. They have three adult sons. Nicki has been involved in a range of community groups in Mid-Canterbury and is a Justoce of the Peace. Her interests are sports, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Mayor Neil Brown
Current Mayor of the Ashburton District Neil joins the Advance Ashburton Board. Neil is a born and raised local, living and farming in Rakaia for most of his life, and together with his wife Judy, they have raised 3 children of their own. Neil completed his education at Ashburton College and subsequently Lincoln University. As well as farming Neil has been a Councillor for the Ashburton District for the past 16 years and is currently serving his first term as Mayor. Alister Argyle
Alister is the founder and Senior Partner of local lawyers Argyle Welsh Finnigan, and is a Notary Public. He has wide experience in working with charities and is currently President of the Cancer Society of New Zealand and a member of the Executive of the Canterbury – West Coast Division of the Cancer Society. He also serves on various other Charitable Trusts. Alister and his wife Alison live in Ashburton and his interests include music, reading and spending time with his grandchildren. Eleanor Marr
Eleanor is a qualified teacher with a Degree in Teaching and Learning, and a Diploma in Specific Learning Disabilities. She has worked as a Learning Support Teacher and is currently working part time as a tutor for those with SLD, and involved in tutor training. Eleanor has been involved with various community organisations and is a member of the Seabrook McKenzie Centre Trust Board. She is a partner in a family arable farm in the Methven district. Married to Graham and they have 3 adult and 6 grandchildren. Interests include patchwork, gardening, reading and spending time with family. |

Grant Bonniface
Grant is a Chartered Accountant and since 2008 has been the Chief Financial Officer of Ashburton Contracting Ltd (ACL). ACL is a diverse civil contracting company based in Mid Canterbury employing 135 staff. His interests include commercial property ownership, investment and farming. He is a trustee (and treasurer) of the Waihora Ellesmere Trust and Life Member and Secretary/Treasurer of the Waihora Clay Target Club. Graham Kennedy
Graham is a well-known Chartered Accountant who has practiced with Brophy Knight Ltd for over 40 years. He has also been actively involved in community activities including the Ashburton Aquatic Park Charitable Trust, and more recently the Mackenzie Charitable Foundation. He is an Independent Director and Chairman for several private and public companies. Graham was appointed as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to business. Frank Luxton
Frank and his wife Tonia moved to NZ in 2006 from the UK and have enjoyed Ashburton ever since. For 18 years Frank was immersed in investments with Prudential before retiring at the age of 40. During retirement Frank developed an interest in wills and probate and as Chairman assisted in the development of Trust inheritance. He was a member of The Senior Council of The Society of Willwriters and was instrumental in the establishment of PALS (Professional Association of Legal Services). His hobbies include travel, flying and 4 wheel driving. Grants Committee
Angela Leadley
Team leader, Community and Public Health, CDHB Ange has worked in Public Health for the past 16 years and for the last 8 years, works part time for her and her husband Ross' building company. Ange was born and raised in Ashburton and along with Ross, raises their two boys on a lifestyle block in Ashburton. Ange has been involved with a number of sporting groups and enjoys time outdoors with friends and family. Lisa Anderson
Lisa has a Professional Supervision business as well as working part time as a Senior Pastor and volunteers in several community NGOs. She is married with 3 young adult children. Audit and Risk
Brendon Adam
Brendon is the Managing Director of Brophy Knight Ltd. As a Chartered Accountant with 25 years of experience, Brendon contributes both professional skills and ethics to the Audit & Risk Committee of AACF. Away from the boardroom, Brendon takes an active interest in his children's sporting activities and staying fit as well. |
Matt Marshall
Matt grew up on a farm in Wakanui and is now a lawyer at local law firm, RMF Silva. He is actively involved in the community and is currently a trustee of the Ashburton Housing and Support Trust and a member of the Ashburton Toastmasters Club. Matt enjoys public speaking, refereeing hockey, cycling, and spending time with his partner and their son.

With 30 years’ experience in IT, he is currently a Director of Nectar Group, the owner/Director of the family dairy farm, and his latest venture, e2e Limited, allows Dave to spend time in his ‘happy place’ consulting and assisting businesses. Dave is active in the community and is currently serving on the boards of Ruralco and North Canterbury Fish & Game. Dave is married to Tracy and his interests include time with his family, reading, fishing and hunting.
