Rotary Club of Ashburton Plains Scholarship

Picture
Rotary Club of Ashburton Plains is a group of like-minded people who believe that solving real problems takes real commitment and vision.
A major focus for the club is supporting the youth of Ashburton, whether it be through scholarships to support tertiary study, or school-based programmes.
Rotary also offers young people many opportunities to develop their leadership skills eg. financial support for Spirit of Adventure and specific leadership programmes.
Rotary Club of Ashburton Plains is particularly delighted to invest in people undertaking apprenticeship programmes in Ashburton, hence the introduction of this scholarship.  To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be undertaking training and national qualifications. All visitors are welcome to attend the club's meetings, which are held on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm at the Ashburton RSA.

Ashburton Jaycee Education and Development Fund

Jaycee was an organisation for men, and in later years women, between the ages of 18 and 40.  Its Four Square Badge symbolised the four tenets of the organisation - Fellowship, Action, Service and Education.
When Ashburton Jaycees wound up in 2008 they established a Special Named Fund with Advance Ashburton Community Foundation, to be used "for the development and education of persons who reside within the Ashburton District who are aged between 18 and 40".
A portion of the income from this fund is being used to support the Industry Training Scholarships.

Tinwald Club Fund

The Tinwald Club, formed around 1970, was an important part of the Ashburton District, supporting the sporting and social needs of the Tinwald area. In 2011 the membership had declined to a point that was no longer viable, so the decision was made by the remaining members to dissolve the Club.  As always, thinking of their community, the members sought a way in which the residual asset of the Club would continue to support the Tinwald area, and the decision was made to set up a special fund with Advance Ashburton.  This special fund commenced in 2013 and continues to deliver benefits to the people and organisations in the Tinwald area and will continue to do so for many generations to come.

Congratulations to our 2025 Jaycees and Rotary Club of Ashburton Plains Scholarship Recipients
